Top 25 Chaos continues: Ohio State tumbles down after a loss to Oregon

10/13/2024

Prior to the season, the AP Poll Top 25 had Ohio State ranked number 2.  It has been a thing where Ohio State is ranked in the top5 since 2017.  Each season, I wondered how if they have not been battle tested within the regular season games.  Although they do recruit well, it just seems it is automatic for the Buckeyes to be highly ranked.  On Saturday, October 12, Oregon won its first game against a number 2 ranked opponent.  Due to time management, the Ducks escaped with a victory and defeated Ohio State 32-31.  The biggest will be if Oregon is deserving number or replace Ohio State at number 2.  Also, how far down will Ohio State rank despite being a close game.  Here is my top 25 rankings for week 8 in college football.

1. Texas - The Longhorns defeated a depleted Wide Receiver corps Oklahoma 34-3.  Their biggest challenge will be this upcoming Saturday versus Georgia.

2. Oregon - The Ducks defeated Ohio State with Dillon Gabriel leading the way.

3. Penn State - The Nittany Lions are quietly moving up the rankings.  They are 6-0 after defeating USC on the road.

4. Georgia - The Bulldogs may had defeated Mississippi State but the final score has everyone scratching their heads.  They won 41-31.  However, Georgia will go on the road this Saturday to take on number one ranked, Texas.

5. Iowa State - The Cyclones are in the need to be recognized as a power school ready to rumble.  They are at their best start at 6-0.

Here are the following top 25 rankings.
