Texas and the Big Ten top the polls; undefeated teams left out

10/06/2024

Chaos has rendered on Saturday games.  Many questioned who will move up or down.  The AP and Coach's poll were published early Sunday afternoon.  Here are the results and reactions:

  • Texas is the new unanimous number one team in the polls.  There first SEC debut game will be at home versus Oklahoma.  Then, will challenge Georgia.
  • Ohio State is ranked number two.  But they have not played any top 25 teams.  This week, they will go on the road and challenge Oregon, a top 5 team.
  • Oregon and Penn State can arguably be 3 or 4.  However, they will be battle tested.  Oregon will host Ohio State, while Penn State visits USC.
  • Georgia is ranked number 5 and will take on the struggling Mississippi State.  After, the Bulldogs will go on the road to Texas.
  • Alabama lost to Vanderbilt.  Although it is a devastating loss, is Miami better than Alabama?
  • Iowa State defeated their rival Iowa.  All other games have won convincingly.  In this case, they are the top Big XII team but not ranked in the top 10.
  • Lastly, two teams who are on top of the American Athletic Conference are Army and Navy.  None are given the respect in the top 25 rankings.  Army 5-0 (4-0) and Navy 5-0 (3-0) are having their best start in a long time.
  • Here is my top 25!
