Projecting the College Football Playoffs thru Week 8
It was another wild finish for week 8 in the college football games. In taking a look at the standings and rankings, the college football rankings may look one way but the playoffs will have you look at it in a different perspective.
1. Oregon is more likely going to be named number 1 after Texas lost to Georgia. Oregon is tied with Indiana 4-0 in the Big Ten Conference. Penn State is 3-0.
2. Texas A&M is 4-0 and on top of the SEC. With Georgia defeating Texas, they are most likely going to be ranked 2. However, Georgia is 4-1. The benefit goes to the Aggies at this moment.
3. Iowa State pulled a miracle over UCF. They are tied are tied in first place with BYU in the Big 12 Conference.
4. Clemson is showing dominance in the ACC. There are four undefeated teams but Clemson has the best record at 5-0.
5. Army has the best undefeated record in the AAC. Navy and Tulane remain undefeated.
6. Georgia has the hardest schedule in all college football. They won on the road against Texas. That will put them on top of the rankings. However, Georgia lost to Alabama. Texas A&M and LSU remain undefeated in the SEC.
7. Penn State is 3-0 in the Big Ten Conference under Indiana and Oregon.
8. Texas loses to Georgia but will need help from other teams in the SEC to get back on track for the conference championship.
9. BYU is having an awesome season. They are 7-0 (4-0 Big 12). They are ranked under Iowa State. Unfortunately, BYU and Iowa State do not play each other during the regular season. If both win out, they can meet in the conference championship.
10. Indiana is having a wonderful season. They are 7-0 (4-0 Big Ten).
11. Ohio State lost to Oregon. They do challenge Penn State and Indiana. It is a must win for the remaining games if they want to reach the conference championship.
12. Miami is 7-0 (3-0 ACC). Pittsburgh, SMU, and Clemson remain undefeated in the ACC.
