College Football Playoff Prediction Week 11

11/03/2024

Projecting the TOP 12 and full rankings

After 10 weeks of college football, each conference standings is narrowing its contenders for the championship. Meanwhile, the College Football Playoff Committee will start selecting their top 12 along with the first outlook of the official top 25 rankings. Here is the projected top 12 as shown above:

1. Oregon - The Ducks defeated Boise State, Ohio State, and Illinois.  They are averaging over 30 points a game, and their remaining schedule looks favorable for finishing undefeated.

2. Georgia - The Bulldogs are in first place in the SEC.  Their only loss to Alabama looks like a resilient and persevering team.  However, the last two weeks looked imperfect.

3. BYU -In its second year in the Big 12, Kalani Sitake leads this program with an 8-0 (5-0) record. They are one game away to replicate their best start since the 2020 season.

4. SMU -Despite losing to BYU in week 3, SMU's first season in the ACC has been spectacular. They are 8-1 (5-0) and are tied with Miami as the only undefeated team in the ACC.

5. Army - The fifth best conference can be debatable.  The AAC and the MWC will have to fight it out. Right now, let's give some respect to our Soldiers, The Army Back Knights. The biggest challenge to be contenders will be in two weeks when they host Notre Dame. Meanwhile, their next opponent is North Texas.

6. Ohio State - OSU needs to win out, especially against Indiana.  A win would set up a rematch against Oregon for the Big Ten Conference Championship.

7. Texas - The Longhorns struggled in their last two games, losing to Georgia and winning by three points over Vanderbilt. A bye week was much needed for Texas. However, their schedule will be a considerable challenge. They end the season against their renewed rival, Texas A&M.

8. Indiana - Despite being undefeated, you would think they should be ranked higher than Ohio State. Unfortunately, no team in their schedule that they have defeated is ranked in the top 25. The Hoosiers must prove themselves against Ohio State in two weeks to gain that respect.

9. Notre Dame - The Irish have won six straight games since the mishap loss to Northern Illinois.  Notre Dame defeated then-ranked Navy 51-14.  They will take on another ranked team in two weeks - Army.

10. Miami (FL) -The Hurricanes will most likely be positioned on top over SMU. However, it would be interesting to see them in the ACC Championship. Miami has survived victories over Virginia Tech, California, and Louisvilleā€”Miami's defense over 30 points in four of their last five games.

11. Tennessee - The Vols are technically tied with five 1-loss teams.  However, they play in Georgia in two weeks.

12. Texas A&M - The Aggies suffered a loss to a motivated South Carolina 44-20.  They face Auburn and Texas in their last two games in the SEC schedule.
